Cadbury: recruited real life spoon player for TV spot

Cadbury recruited a real-life spoon player from YouTube to star in its new spot to promote Dairy Milk Oat Crunch as a mid morning snack.

The chocolate giant is kicking off a new ad campaign today that features two ladies in a cafeteria before taking a break at 11am with a Dairy Milk Oat Crunch bar.

The break takes an unexpected twist when they grab a pair of spoons each and start playing the tune to 90's hit "Get Ready for this". One of the women, Marylyn Campbell, has been playing the spoons for 36 years.

The 30 second ad will air today during ITV’s The Chase and will be supported by outdoor, digital, experiential and PR as part of this £4.5 million investment.

"The new advert is all about showing the joyful side of the mid-morning break before settling back into the daily routine," said Mondelez marketing activation director, Matthew Williams.

He added the impromptu nature of the spoons performance highlighted "irrepressible joy," which the chocolate brands is aligning to its products.
