Brand experience agency Because will take a taste of the Caribbean to Bristol Harbour Festival this weekend on behalf of Brugal Rum.

Visitors to the free festival from 29 to 31 July will be able sample Brugal Libre cocktails and play dominos at the Brugal Rum Shack pop-up bar, built in the style of a traditional shack from the Dominican Republic - birthplace of Brugal.

The shack has been designed by Because and built by structure specialists Mobile Technik.

"Our brief was to work with Because to create something authentic yet still premium, which was true to the essence of the brand and the Dominican Republic. The resulting shack combines traditional materials including corrugated iron, seagrass and wood in a structure which is relatively quick and cost-effective for us to transport and rig at both events," explained Mobile Technik managing director Simon Pauffley.

Consumers in Leeds will also get a flavour of Brugal’s heritage when the shack visits the Bingley Music Festival from 2 to 4 September.

Because brand ambassadors will be running three weeks of in-bar drink sampling at venues across Bristol and Leeds, offering money-off vouchers and a text-to-win competition for a trip to the Brugal Carnival in the Dominican Republic.
