Britney Spears to star in reality TV show to quash marriage rumours

LONDON - Britney Spears says she is to express her 'personal life through art' as she agrees to star in her own reality television show with her husband Kevin Federline.

The pair have reached an agreement with Paramount-owned television network UPN to star in a new six-part television series, which will be made up mostly of private home footage shot by the pair during the early days of their relationship, engagement and wedding.

The footage begins shortly after the couple first met in Los Angeles and headed off to Europe together on tour, leading up to and including their wedding day.

UPN is also shooting new footage and commentary with Spears and Federline, and the reality series will also air on MTV after it has been on UPN.

Spear said that from the day she met Federline there had been constant rumours and inaccurate speculation about their lives and the reality series, as yet untitled, would clear up those questions.

"I feel that last year the tabloids ran my life and I am really excited about showing my fans what really happened rather than all the stories, which have been misconstrued by journalists in the past.

"I am now going to be expressing my personal life through art. This series will show us falling in love and all the adventures that went on overseas during the European leg of my Onyx Hotel tour. It's going to be an exciting ride. Kevin feels this project will speak for itself. Simply put, he says, 'It is a documentation of love,' Spears said.

The reality show sees Spears and Federline follow in the footsteps of actors Jessica Simpson and husband Nick Lachey, who starred in an MTV reality TV series called 'Newlyweds'. Since the couple appeared in the show, they have been dogged by reports that their marriage was in trouble and that they were heading for divorce. Simpson is soon to star as Daisy Duke in the cinematic remake of 'The Dukes of Hazard'.

UPN said that the reality TV show is a chance for Britney fans to see her and her husband for who they really are away from the gossip columns.

Dawn Ostroff, president of UPN, said: "We all know Britney and Kevin's life together has been played out in front of the public through internet speculation, the gossip columnists and entertainment magazines, but now, for the first time, their millions of fans will get to see and hear the couple's real story on UPN as told directly by them.
