A brief, exhilarating history of mobile from Samsung

72andSunny film takes viewers from the '80s brick to the Galaxy and beyond

A Samsung video for its Unpacked 2016 event celebrates the company’s mobile technology history with a minute-and-a-half video from 72andSunny. A man opens a shoebox with a brick-sized mobile phone from the late 80s inside. He smirks, noting the weight in his hand, and opens it up like a nesting doll to reveal a smaller phone and still another, a flip phone. The box then opens up to shift the ad to scenes of engineers hard at work creating the first watch phone. The ad travels through the decades to highlight Samsung’s innovations, from the smallest TV phone and the first 3G call made from Mount Everest to finally its most current smartphone. It ends with a man using its VR headset and the message, "Who knows where progress will take us?"
