Boots hires OMD UK to £56m media account

LONDON - Boots UK has appointed OMD UK to its £56m media planning and buying account. OMD will replace incumbent agency MediaCom, which had held the account for four years.

OMD won the business after a final shoot-out against MediaCom and Starcom.

Boots announced it was reviewing the account in July as part of a radical shake-up of its marketing structure intended to help it become a ‘world-class pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer'.

The company also unveiled a new commercial structure, as well as announcing plans to split its marketing team in three, creating new directors for loyalty, CRM and customer communications and in-store marketing.

Marketing and trading director Elizabeth Fagan said: ‘We are delighted to be working with OMD UK going forward and we would like to take this opportunity to thank MediaCom for the work they've done over the past four years.'
