Food artists Bompas & Parr have unveiled their sensory installation at Bar Chocolat in London's Mercer Street to celebrate the launch of Baileys Chocolat Luxe.

Open for the final time today (16 September) the commission - called Cabinet Luxe - forms part of a multi-sensory experience created by agency Unity PR.

The installation features a darkened room with four cabinet doors that release puffs of chocolate vapour, taking liquid chocolate essence and turning it into a vapour that visitors inhale. The room also has an increased level of oxygen, which enhances taste and alertness.

Cabinet Luxe, which is designed in a Rococo style, was made with the view that the more luxurious the setting, the more people enjoy food and drink.

Harry Parr said: "By removing the usual visual signifiers and increasing the levels of oxygen, we have allowed for a richer experience of the intricate flavour. Cabinet Luxe opens its doors to imagination, discovery and heightened passion for chocolate."

Sam Bompas added: "Chocolate is a universally loved treat, it is a food product that takes us out of the stresses of daily existence and gives a full multi-sensory experience heightened by its unique smell.

"For Bar Chocolat we have created Cabinet Luxe, its opulent design is influenced by the Rococo style of 17th century Versailles and Marie Antionette’s passion for opulence.

"We have taken the liquid essences of luxury chocolate found within Baileys Chocolat Luxe and turned them in to vapour."
