Car maker uses video streaming app to show off latest vehicle
It's not uncommon to see new car models disguised with checkered patterns or other obfuscating methods.
Social media has changed that with auto fans snapping photos of their favorite brand and speculating what lies beneath the camouflage. KBS partnered with BMW to whet fan's appetite by watching a reveal of the latest M2 model on live-streaming video platform Periscope using six cameras.
According to Jonathan Mackler, co-CCO, KBS New York, "While the dominance of social media offers automotive advertisers a whole new playing field for promotion, each launch needs to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis."
Dan Kelleher, co-CCO, KBS New York added, "The M series is a special breed of BMW that draws a lot of excitement and love from the BMW enthusiast community. Periscope offered us a way to give these rabid enthusiasts the opportunity to see the launch live and in action, for the first time in the US."
