Ben & Jerry's will treat the UK to complementary ice cream as part of its 37th annual Free Cone Day on 12 April.

Consumers across the country can redeem their free sample (or samples, if they want face the queue again) at stockists including selected Odeon, Vue and Empire cinemas.

All participating 'scoop shops' are displayed on the brand's interactive map on its website.

Ben & Jerry's will be giving away all its flavours from classics such as Cookie Dough and Phish Food to its latest variety, Brownie Batter Core.

The event is designed as a yearly 'thank you' from the brand to its customers. It began in 1979 at the Vermont company's first outlet, and has since expanded to Ben & Jerry's stockists across the globe.

In 2015 alone, Free Cone Day saw the company hand out one-million free scoops.

Ed Shepherd, social mission manager, Ben & Jerry's, said: "Free Cone Day feels a little bit like our birthday party and the best day of the year for us here at Ben & Jerry’s. We can’t wait to get out there and celebrate with ice cream lovers around the world."

The brand is also giving out free samples of its 'Give a Fudge' ice cream from today (1 April) until 9 April, as part of a campaign to encourage Londoners to vote in the upcoming Mayoral Election
