Beats' fast-paced World Cup mixtape journeys from Russia to the homes of famous footballers

Beats by Dre's ambitious World Cup campaign is a mash-up of four football stars' personal journeys from obstacle to victory.

The short film, which continues the brand’s "Made defiant" campaign, was directed by Guy Ritchie, who is best known for films such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Sherlock Holmes.

Beats’ "Defiant mixtape, volume 1" stars footballers Harry Kane from England, Mesut Özil from Germany, Benjamin Mendy from France and Brazil’s Neymar Jr. Mixing music, live action and animation, the fast-paced film travels around the world to tell each of their back-stories and show how they overcame challenges to get where they are today.

It begins and ends in a play-park in Russia, where a boy called Andre is inspired by the footballers to defy his own obstacle.

The film is narrated by Peaky Blinders actor Paul Anderson and features cameos from tennis champion Serena Williams and football stars Thierry Henry and Patrice Evra. The soundtrack includes Anderson Paak’s hit single Bubblin.

The players wear Beats’ Decade Collection headphones.
