BBH work for Audi and Barclays shortlisted for Film Lions despite Publicis Groupe boycott

Audi's "Clowns" film has been shortlisted in the Film Lions at Cannes, after the Volkswagen-owned car brand entered it itself.

The TV spot, by Bartle Bogle Hegarty London, was awarded the Creative Grand Prix in Campaign’s 2017 Annual.

But it risked missing out on recognition at Cannes after Publicis Groupe announced its plan to withdraw from all awards for a year in order to invest the money saved into its AI system, Marcel.

A second BBH ad to be nominated is "Hospital", part of the fraud protection campaign for Barclays. The work was entered by the ad's production company, Outsider.

The most nominated UK agency was once again Adam & Eve/DDB, which was nominated four times for its work for Marmite, Fifa 18, Red Cross and John Smith’s Extra Smooth.

There were two nominations each for BBC Creative, Droga5 London, Spark 44, VCCP and Wieden & Kennedy London, and one each for Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, J Walter Thompson, Karmarama, Mother,  and Smuggler.

Wieden & Kennedy's nominations include "Nothing beats a Londoner" for Nike, which was withdrawn over intellectual property issues.

Among 86 nominations from the US, there were eight for BBDO New York, seven for Wieden & Kennedy New York, and six each for DDB Chicago, Droga5 New York and TBWA\Media Arts Lab.

There were also four nominations for work for Tide, created by Saatchi & Saatchi New York and entered by Procter & Gamble.
