Bartle Bogle Hegarty has acquired Domani, an independent digital agency based in New York, in a bid to boost its digital and tech offering in the US.
Domani will be fully owned by BBH and will continue to operate under its own name as a subsidiary of BBH out of BBH New York’s offices.
Founded in 2001 and based in Brooklyn, Domani’s services include brand strategy, platform and digital marketing, with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Sony and Coca-Cola on its client roster.
The agency’s founder and president, Jonathan Hills, will become the head of digital at BBH New York, but all current Domani staff will continue to report to him.
Hills will report directly into Pat Lafferty, the chief executive of BBH North America.
Lafferty said: "As we’ve grown our portfolio and expanded our capabilities in a big way over the past two years, investing more in digital was critical.
"We’ve already demonstrated those digital chops, being the only North American agency to win gold in both Film and Cyber at Cannes last year.
"Domani’s capabilities will also provide BBH with digital analytics, digital strategy, and full stack front-end and back-end development; and they’ll deepen our current digital creative and UX resources."
Hills will also work closely with BBH New York’s head of integrated production and technology, Carey Head, who joined the agency last year to improve its digital offering.
Hills said: "This move is a great fit, both strategically and culturally. We have a shared passion for the transformative power of a strong creative strategy – and the role that digital plays within that strategy to effect behavior and build great brands.
"I’m thrilled to be partnering with some of the brightest and most grounded people in the ad biz and look forward to the digital possibilities that we will unlock together."
