BBC holds £30m Worldwide pitch

BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, is holding a pitch for its global media planning and buying account, worth an estimated £30m.

The pitch, which is being managed by the AAR, is not thought to include the UK, where the work is handled by Media Planning Group.

Last month, the BBC announced that it was to spend £400m on acquisitions and fresh ventures after reporting a 24% rise in pre-tax profits to £111m. Its most profitable division was global TV sales, where profits climbed from £33.7m to £40.2m. The magazines division experienced broadly flat profits at £20m, while losses at its digital media sales division grew from £1.6m to £3.9m.
