Atlanta is getting a dose of southern hospitality to deal with COVID-19.
The city in Georgia, which has emerged as a hotspot for the disease, is in danger of running out of hospital beds for coronavirus patients, according to Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
To help stem the tide of the virus, Butter (Butter.ATL on Instagram), Atlanta’s unofficial culture platform via Twitter, Facebook, and IG stories, has launched its "14 Ways in 14 Days" local fundraising campaign in alignment with Atlanta's newly announced 14-day shelter in place mandate.
For 14 days, Butter will be spotlighting one Atlanta-based non-profit a day, with each organization addressing a specific local need arising as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.
This includes everything from childcare issues to food insecurity, as well as good old fashioned PSA’s (in true Atlanta style of course):
But Butter isn’t your grandma’s social feed, as it employs cultural wit, sharp observation humor, and relevant celebrity backing to spread its message about both COVID-19 prevention and how to donate to those who can help, in a way that is accessible to its target audience.
