Music festival Glastonbury and London venue the Royal Albert Hall have claimed places on the 2015/16 CoolBrands list, while Apple has reached the top spot.

The news follows Apple’s release of its iPhone 6S model on Friday (25 September), which was debuted in the brand’s typically non-experiential launch style on 9 September.

Other events qualifying as a CoolBrand include Bestival, the Edinburgh International Festival, Field Day, Latitude, Lovebox, Parklife, Secret Garden Party and Wilderness.

Alexandra Palace, Barbican, Eden Project, O2 Academy, Sage Gateshead, Shakespeare’s Globe, Southbank Centre and The O2 were all named as ‘cool’ entertainment venues.

Chris Cotton, chief executive at the Royal Albert Hall, said: "While it may be cooler to pretend otherwise, the Hall is delighted to be named one of the country's coolest brands, aged 144. We have a long history of booking groundbreaking artists, from Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and Allen Ginsberg in the 1960s to the eclectic programme of comedy, music and cinema in our Elgar Room today.

"Over the next few weeks, we'll have the best up-and-coming stand ups in our Late Night Laughs season, David Gilmour on the main stage, country sensation Kacey Musgraves teaching kids how to write songs, The Godfather accompanied by a live orchestra, and the world premiere of Spectre, the new Bond film. Pretty cool."

The annual list is decided upon by 2,500 members of the British public and an ‘Expert Council’, which this year included singer songwriter Ella Eyre, actress Jaime Winstone and fashion designer Julien Macdonald.
