Apple rolls up Apple TV upgrade, Gwen Stefani

In other news, Maker's Mark isn't actually made from hands

Yahoo puts ads on Apple TV. After letting Apple TV lie fallow while updating its apps for other devices, YouTube has released an update that brings the UI into sync with offerings for Roku, Xbox and PlayStation — and plays ads with YouTube videos on Apple TV.

Apple and YouTube owner Google are still in hot competition for streaming TV. Forbes cites a Park Associates survey that found the Chromecast overtook Apple TV this year for second place, behind the Roku.

Besides the YouTube upgrade, Apple presided over the release of new channels for Apple TV: The Scene, Fusion, Dailymotion and UFC.TV.

No Doubt about Apple Pay. Google may have the TV edge, but Apple has the endorsement of Gwen Stefani, at least according to a new Mastercard ad that features the No Doubt frontwoman and Apple's payment system.

Maker's Mark faces ad suit. At least it didn't claim its bourbon was made by little elves in a hollow tree! Maker's Mark has been sued in federal court by two San Diego consumers who bought some bourbon last month and promptly called shenanigans on the Kentucky whisky-maker's claim its premium booze is "handmade." (Could they taste the difference?) Safora Nowrouzi and Travis Williams want more than $5 million in damages. Next you'll tell us Red Bull won't cause us to sprout wings!
