M&A: Dentsu Aegis Network deal remains biggest in the industry

Publicis Groupe's purchase of Epsilon is the third-biggest deal in the industry's history. Which others make the top 20?

Publicis Groupe's proposed deal to acquire data company Epsilon for £3.37bn is not quite as big as the almost £5bn WPP paid for Y&R in 2000, or Dentsu's move in 2012 to buy Aegis for just under £4bn.

The Aegis deal, which led to the creation of Dentsu Aegis Network, was meant to create a global marketing services giant for the Japanese company to better compete against WPP and Omnicom.

Below are the top 20 acquisitions in the marketing and advertising sector, provided by Results International. All figures are converted into pound sterling, based on the exchange rates from the time of the deal being announced.
