Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO's Thiago de Morales and TBWA's Amelia Torode have been named as two of the top 50 most powerful part-timers, in research out today.

The pair are on the 2015 Power Part Time list created by Timewise, which advises companies about flexible working, in association with Management Today (published by Haymarket).

The list is compiled annually to create part-time role models, and to "debunk the myth that you cannot work a top level job on a part-time basis."

The list shows that one in three of the 680,000 people who formally work part-time in the UK and earn a minimum of £40,000 a year are men. This is despite the prevailing ideology that part-timers tend to be women who want to spend time with their children.

Torode, the chief strategy officer at TBWA\London works four days a week. Meanwhile Thiago de Morales, the creative partner and head of creative innovation at AMV BBDO, works three days a week to share childcare responsibilities with his wife, as well as pursue his parallel career as a book author and illustrator.

The list also includes Mark Webb, the head of corporate social media at Dixons Carphone, who adjusted his hours to four days a week after he was diagnosed with progressive multiple sclerosis in 2008.

Other people on the list include the director of fulfilment at Amazon UK Marketplace Katie McQuaid, the head of credit and capital quantitative research at Nomura, James McEwen and the head of product at Premier Inn, Sarah Simpson.

Karen Mattison MBE the joint chief executive at Timewise, said: "Part-time working has reached a tipping point, and this year's Power Part Time list is testament to this – with more entries than ever and crucially more men than ever.

"Part-time and flexible working has moved from the sidelines to the centre stage."

The list was first launched in 2012. People have to enter to make it onto the list.
