Adam & Eve/DDB wins Grand Prix in Film Craft

Adam & Eve/DDB picked up the Grand Prix in the Film Craft category at Cannes last night for "Monty's Christmas" for John Lewis.

Judges said that the Christmas ad, which shows the relationship between a young boy and his penguin toy, "touched our hearts".

The Film Craft jury awarded Adam & Eve/DDB the Grand Prix alongside Blink Productions London and a gold Lion alongside MPC London and Blink.

João Daniel Tikhomiroff, the founder and partner-director at Mixer and jury president, said: "Our decision is absolutely from the heart. All of the gold lions were fantastically executed but this is the one piece that connected with us on a human level."

The UK received five gold Film Craft Lions including one for "this girl can" by FCB Inferno for Sport England. "This girl can" shows real women taking part in different sports.

The government campaign aimed to celebrate women in sports and encourage more to take up sport.

Somesuch London was the production company behind the work, which also won a silver Film Craft Lion.

Wieden & Kennedy picked up two gold Film Craft Lions for "the other side" for Honda.

The interactive ad shows allows viewers to watch two different scenarios by hitting the "R" on their keyboards. One story shows a man doing the school run and the other side is a darker storyline.

Somesuch London was also the production company behind the Honda ad.

BBH London was awarded a gold lion for "birth" for Audi, which shows the creation of the car, mimicking a woman giving birth. The production company was Mill+ London.

There were 66 awards in the Film Craft category, including ten silver lions and 12 bronze lions for the UK.
