With the countdown to the 2010 World Cup underway the Grand Connaught Rooms has been chosen to host the induction of the 1966 England World Cup team into the Football Hall of Fame.

Hosted by Sky Sports Presenter Charlotte Jackson, the prestigious lunch will take place in the venue's Grand Hall on Thursday (13 May) and will see the legendary team formally inducted by Sir Trevor Brooking, vice president of the National Football Museum.

Joining the 450 guests will be World Cup winners Gordon Banks, George Cohen, Jack Charlton, Sir Bobby Charlton, Nobby Stiles, Martin Peters, Sir Geoff Hurst, Gerry Byrne and Ian Callaghan.

After lunch there will be a question and answer session with the ‘66 team and a charity auction in aid of The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

The event is being organised by MBN, one of the UK's leading providers of sports lunches and dinners.

"We are delighted that the spectacular Grand Hall has been chosen as the venue to host this unique and very special occasion and we look forward to welcoming the 1966 World Cup team to the Grand Connaught Rooms," said Grand Connaught Rooms venue manager Ray McKibben.
