Digital, advertising and DM shops have been approached about the brief, which includes all of Sainsbury's digital communications activity.

Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, the incumbent on the creative account and the Sainsbury's Finance digital business, has been invited to take part in the review.

The account will not encompass the supermarket's e-commerce and web-build business, held by AKQA.

AKQA has also handled a number of digital communications briefs for Sainsbury's in the past, including a text-based initiative that invited consumers to sign up to receive weekly "bag reminder" texts. It is not known whether the agency will repitch.
