Field Notes is a brand of choice for many designers and writers, up there with premium notebooks like Moleskine. While we're still not sure how to say Moleskine, this video spot for Field Notes produced by North of New York says something every writer or artist can understand:
Let us never forget the sprawling genius of a midnight dream, and how silly it seems in the light of day. Let us never forget the mundane and the beautiful. Let us never forget why we write. To remember what happened … what could have happened … what didn't happen. We write to find out how it ends. So let us keep writing. And let us never forget how it feels to hold life in your hand.
The spot clocks in at just under 80 seconds and never once shows the product. It focuses on what could be memories to record in Field Notes. As the spot ends, it states: "I'm not writing it down to remember it later, I'm writing it down to remember it now."
If you're itching for more, here's designer Aaron Draplin in a short video for Lynda.com where he shows how he uses Field Notes in his design process.
