In a world full of information, the person who can make sense of it all has the upper hand. For WPP and its clients, Brian Gleason is that person. As the former CEO of programmatic media company Xaxis and current global CEO of [m]Platform, Gleason is the leader of more than 5,000 engineers, data scientists and product managers looking to marry data-driven information with consumer communications.

With a background in technology (he created the first private exchange in the technology market), Gleason understands what’s at the center of marketing: the consumer. Whether opining about ad blocking technologies or pondering the future of voice search, Gleason is ever mindful of technology’s impact on the consumer and data’s ability to drive relevance.

As head of the recently launched [m]Platform, a technology suite of media planning, data analytics and digital services, Gleason is charged with bringing together data from hundreds of sources (including demographics, technology usage, behavioral insights, purchase history and location data) and using different platforms (including audience intelligence, analytics and media planning) to provide a single customer view. 

"The rise of digital and mobile technologies, media fragmentation and expanding e-commerce create a pivot point in marketing where the scientific application of data to media strategies is essential," Gleason said in a release announcing [m]Platform’s launch. "Today, marketers have to know their customers in richer detail than ever before, or they won’t reach them."
